NOVA SCOTIA COLLEGE OF AUDIOLOGISTS
AND SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS

Application process for individuals currently licensed in another regulated Canadian province

Step 1 :

Arrange for a letter of verification to be emailed to the Registrar at admin@nscaslp.ca from the college where you are currently licensed to verify that you are a registrant in good standing.

Step 2 :

Application form and profile
Apply to the NSCASLP by selecting "Currently licensed in another regulated Canadian province" to create a profile at the Member Portal on this website.

Complete the personal information fields.

Confirmation of identification
Send an email to admin@nscaslp.ca to schedule a time to confirm your identification by showing two pieces of government-issued identification, including one photo ID, during a prearranged videocall.

PLI
Upload a copy of your liability insurance. The College Board sets the minimum amount of insurance a member must carry; currently, it is set at $2 million. If you are a salaried employee your employer may carry the necessary insurance for the work you provide in that work setting, and have a process in place to obtain this documentation. All questions related to your insurance coverage should be directed to your employer (and/or your insurance carrier if you are self-employed).

Criminal Record Check
Arrange to send an original copy of a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check dated within 6 months to admin@nscaslp.ca  A digital criminal records check that can be authenticated is also acceptable.
For more information, please see the Halifax Police website: https://www.halifax.ca/fire-police/police/criminal-record-check

Step 3 :

The Registrar will advise you when NSCASLP has received your letter of verification. If all documents are received and acceptable to the Registrar, you will pay your licence fee through the Member Portal and then your licence will be issued.

As required by Nova Scotia legislation, a decision on an application from an applicant licensed in another Canadian province must be made within 5 business days of receipt of a completed application.
